Row, Row, Row Your Boat

Remember the song we sang as kids……..row, row, row your boat gently down the stream, merrily, merrily, merrily, merrily……life is but a dream.  And so it is except that we are hitting rough waters of late.   How do we keep rowing gently and merrily and be with the growing uncertainty and rapid changes in our lives both individually and as a community?

This global process of shedding what is not based in love and compassion for one another will continue as long as it takes.  Whether it is in the political, financial, educational, healthcare, ethical, ecological parameters of our lives, what is not in harmony for the highest good of all is decaying.  This process is happening both individually within us and as a connected web of earthly humanity.  Our inner being reflects the outer world and our outer world reflects our inner being.  What no longer serves us in order to evolve our level of consciousness to self-realization, will be released.

The power inequity that has existed for so long on this planet is beginning to loosen its grip upon us.  Power that is not built upon compassion and wisdom will not survive.  And that is a good thing.  But change usually doesn’t feel comfortable.  We can choose to react in fear and put our boat at risk or we can slow down and touch into that place within us that knows all is well.

But what if we have lost our job and our money is depleting every day.  Now is the time to walk our talk and to touch into our deep pools of creativity.  How can we focus on our strengths and create a new path for ourselves from what we have learned in the past?  Many of us have taken our creativity for granted because we were in a habitual mode of living.  How can we hold ourselves still and listen to how we can combine what we really want to do with a new idea of how to be with and for people?  One of the great lessons for us to remember is that we are all connected; we are all the same loving energy at our core.  What happens to you, happens to me on some level and vice versa.

Although the headlines can lead us to believe that our ecological problems are endless and that it is too late, we can put our faith in each other’s entrepreneurial abilities to solve the challenges.  If we focus on the solutions and not the problems, we remember that all the answers are already stored within us.  And in the midst of challenging times it is heartening to hear from the news that the level of volunteerism is high right now.  People are thinking and manifesting creative ideas about how they can help one another in times of crisis.

Life is a dream.  We know not how we came to be or where it is that we are going.  We all have ideas but no one knows for certain.  We do know that love is the glue that holds it all together.  It is important to remember that underneath the surface of life, all is well.  Everything is for our highest good.  If we think of our own lives, we know in our hearts that we have learned from everything that has come our way.  Perhaps we can learn to row our boats with greater ease as we all work to help one another.  What is one thing you can do today that would help someone else?  Doing so in any degree will bring a smile to your face……merrily, merrily, merrily……….dream well.
